Voluntary Car Scheme Celebrates Success
The Gillingham
Area Voluntary Car Link Scheme will be celebrating the scheme’s success at
their AGM to be held in the middle of May.
Since it started, the scheme’s volunteer drivers have provided over 289 people with transport
covering 37,145 miles to hospitals, GP surgeries and other medical appointments
as well as shopping, hairdressers and visits to friends and relatives. A recent initiative to register passengers
using the service resulted in over 200 responses as well as unsolicited
donations of more than £200, showing how much the service is appreciated by
users.
The Annual General Meeting will be
held in Gillingham Town Hall on Thursday
13 May 2010
starting at 2.30pm, when reports on the scheme’s progress to date will be
presented and a new Management Committee will be elected. The formal meeting will be followed by
refreshments and the opportunity to talk to users, volunteers and the
management committee. Anyone who wishes
to attend but needs transport can ring the scheme on 07599 311443, giving 48
hours’ notice.
All users and volunteers are
welcome to attend as well as everyone interested in finding out more about the
scheme’s work or becoming a volunteer.
